  • Their Needs:

Emap USA wanted the ability to publish online content to multiple websites through a single administration tool. Their goal was to empower multiple editors with the ability to provide content, without losing control of approving what could be published. Additional functionality included the ability to post multiple images per article as well as manage multiple publications (websites) through this single interface.

Lastly, functionality needed to include the ability for EMAP to maintain all sites on their own: through administration pages for dynamic content as well as the capability to easily replicate structures as their need dictates.

    Our Solution:

Utilizing Microsoft SQL Server and the Internet Information Server, IDDG designed a web-based administration/content management tool with layered security.

The layered security was developed within the ASP pages authenticating user information against the backend database. Additional user information housed within the database allowed the system to determine the level of access available to the user. This method was preferred over NT security in order to minimize overall user management.

User access and rules were defined for each level of security. In turn, this dictated the business rules to which all content was subjected. Content management was then designed and implemented around these rules to allow editors to add modify and delete, as well as approve and reject submitted content.

    The Results:

A custom developed content management system built specifically to fulfill Emap's needs in terms of current and future website publications.
